FlowRide

Privacy Policy

Effective November 7, 2026

This policy explains what information the FlowRide app for macOS handles, where it goes, and the choices you have. FlowRide is made by Cougar Leap LLC ("we", "us"). If you have a question about it, email support@flowride.app.

The short version

Information that stays with you

Rides and sensor data

FlowRide connects to your trainer and sensors over Bluetooth to read power, cadence, speed, and heart rate, and to send resistance or target-power commands to your trainer. It records each Ride (time, duration, distance, power, heart rate, cadence, energy, and the workout or route you rode) on your Mac.

iCloud

If you're signed in to iCloud, FlowRide syncs your Rides through your private iCloud database, and keeps your imported workout and route files in FlowRide's iCloud Drive folder, so they're available on your other Macs. Apple stores this data under your Apple Account; we can't access it. You can turn off iCloud for FlowRide in System Settings.

Settings

Your settings, such as FTP, heart-rate zones, rider weight, and display preferences, are stored on your Mac.

Location

FlowRide doesn't use your location. The map coordinates in a virtual-route Ride come from the route file you ride, not from where you are.

Ride Diagnostics

If you turn on Ride Diagnostics for a Ride, FlowRide saves extra sensor observations from that Ride in a Diagnostic Bundle on your Mac. FlowRide never uploads a Diagnostic Bundle. If you choose to send one to us for support, we use it only to investigate your problem.

Information we handle

Free Ride Allowance

Without FlowRide Pro, you can record a limited number of Rides. To count them, FlowRide sends our service (at api.flowride.app) a record that Apple signs to prove your copy of the app came from the App Store. From that record, our service keeps one identifier Apple assigns to your download of FlowRide, the number of Rides you've started, and a random code for each counted Ride. This identifier isn't your name, email, or Apple Account. We keep this record so the allowance stays accurate when you reinstall FlowRide or use another Mac.

Purchases

FlowRide Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment, and we don't receive your payment details. FlowRide checks your purchase with Apple on your Mac.

Crash and performance reports

FlowRide uses Sentry to receive crash reports, reports of the app becoming unresponsive, app-session health, and performance timings from a small sample of sessions. These reports can include your Mac model, macOS version, FlowRide version, and technical details of what the app was doing when the problem happened. We configure Sentry not to collect personal information, screenshots, or the contents of the app's network requests. Like any internet service, Sentry sees the IP address your report comes from. We use these reports only to find and fix problems in FlowRide.

Service operation

Our service runs on Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and basic request information to deliver and protect it. Our service also keeps short-lived error logs to help us fix outages.

Connected Services

Strava

When you connect Strava, you sign in on Strava's website, not in FlowRide. To finish connecting, and to refresh your access later, FlowRide sends Strava's authorization codes through our service. That keeps FlowRide's Strava credentials off your Mac. Our service passes these codes to Strava and returns your access to your Mac without storing it. FlowRide keeps your Strava access in your Mac's Keychain, along with your Strava display name.

FlowRide uploads a Ride to Strava only when you choose to. The upload includes the Ride's recorded data and a description with the workout, route, or target you rode. Once a Ride is on Strava, Strava's privacy policy applies to it. To disconnect, use FlowRide's Strava setting, which removes your access from your Mac. You can also revoke FlowRide's access in your Strava settings.

What we don't do

Keeping and deleting your data

You can delete Rides, workouts, and routes in FlowRide at any time. You manage iCloud data in your Apple Account. We keep the Free Ride Allowance record while it's needed to count your allowance. To ask us to delete the information we hold, or to ask what we hold, email support@flowride.app. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights over your information, and we'll honor requests the law grants you.

Security

Connections between FlowRide, our service, and the services named here use encryption in transit. Your Connected Service access is stored in the macOS Keychain.

Children

FlowRide isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
